TRUST OF A CHILD
04/03/24 15:27
You do not have to be a brain-box to perceive the gift of Christ to you. It helps to possess the innocent trust of a little child. Jesus said, ‘“Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”’ Nevertheless, intelligence and a non-closed mind is an advantage. Paul was undoubtedly intelligent, and John was uncommonly perceptive. He knew life. It was he who declared that Jesus the Christ is the Light and the Life of the world. The dynamism of Christ’s Gospel is found in the prologue to the book of John.
CHRIST IN US
As a protestant you do not have to become a Catholic or an Eastern Orthodox Believer to find oneness with God. You already have it. As a Believer of any description His life is our life in the life we live. Not some religiously delineated and prescribed life. In looking at many episodes of ‘Backroads’ on the ABC I have been moved and cheered by the many examples of active love shown by ordinary people – some Christians and most not. Whether they know it or not they are bearing witness to the Christ who is in them. Umi Stines was reported in the Melbourne Age as saying, “Success is about how much love you have and how much of it you give. That’s the measure of a successful life.”
DELIGHT OF BEING
Paul urged us to rejoice in the Lord. Always. John encouraged us to find life in His Life. Jesus spoke of the life in our Father that was His life and is know our life when he said, ‘The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--they are full of the Spirit and life’ John 6.63 NIV.
Spirit and life is ours in our new covenant oneness inheritance. It’s chief characteristic is the ability to love.
THE POST CROSS AGE IS NOT THE PRE-CROSS AGE EMPOWERED BY JESUS
Unsuffocated by the law and living in the oneness with Father that is ours, we live as agents of spirit and life that flows from the life-hub of the universe – the trinity in us to manifest in every aspect of our lives as us. We multiply the new creation because we are the living embodiment of the new creation. We are in Jesus and not in Adam. Not in Moses and religion but in one with God. We have chosen to live daily in the union with God that is ours in Jesus.
CHRIST FOR YOU AND AS YOU
Law and religion insulate us from life. Christ is our life. Living the Lord’s Table is living our inheritance.
“For Torrance, the vicarious humanity of Christ does not remove the need for personal faith but calls us to concentrate what little faith we have on the perfect faithfulness of the Son of God. He lived vicariously for us, faithfully responding to the Father’s love as a man among us and reconciling us to God.
WE PARTICIPATE
We participate in His fellowship with God; we are not thrown back upon ourselves to perfectly live a life of faithfulness in our own strength. We still live before God, but it is in Him that we truly live and move and have our being. That He has done it all on our behalf does not mean we are left with nothing to do, but that in Him and through His life we live unto God without fear.” (1)
PRAYER IS
Thus prayer is more a quiet agreement with God that we are with Him and that He is in us than a religious motion. A genuine life in God is never just a religion but our living out of what belongs to us in Jesus. A fruitful life is Christ in us and the trinity in us and with us. You are woven into God and God into you. What’s not to be excited about?!
